M&L Special Needs Planning & Docubank: “Secure Your Life”
Thursday, July 18th, 2013
Over the course of the last four years, the staff of M&L Special Needs Planning, LLC, has been privileged enough to have met, collaborated with, and learned from many highly qualified and inspirational individuals, and a number of incredibly important organizations and businesses. Although every interaction with a member of the special needs community is a positive and valuable experience, some organizations/businesses have core values and mission statements that align so closely with those of M&L that we are inspired to create long lasting relationships. Docubank is one of those businesses.
What is Docubank, and why do I need it?
Simply put, Docubank is a service that allows individuals to store important documents on file, and ensures that they are accessible in the case of an emergency. This includes legal documents, medical records, and living wills, among others – essentially, this service protects and provides immediate access to every document that an individual needs to ensure that his or her wishes are carried out, and to secure the future security (financial or otherwise) of family members.
This is how it works – individuals wishing to avail of this service complete the Docubank application process. Once this process is complete, the individual receives an Emergency Access Card – this card should be kept in the individuals wallet or on the individual’s person at all times. In the case of an emergency, medical professionals can then contact Docubank for instantaneous access to important information. In addition to the documents listed above, this service can also store and provide information such as a current list of medications, allergies, and medical conditions; an individual can even indicate if he or she is an organ donor. Through the Additional Emergency services, Docubank can also store contact information for an individual’s emergency contacts and primary doctor, therefore allowing medical professionals to alert emergency contacts, and keep them updated as to the individual’s medical condition.
Docubank and Individuals with Special Needs
The Docubank S.N.A.P. (special needs access program) card allows individuals with disabilities to live independently, while ensuring that he or she is protected in the case of an emergency. The S.N.A.P. card provides immediate and continuous access to important medical info, (history, allergies, medications, conditions, etc.) as well as contact information for emergency contacts, and the legal documents that are needed in an emergency. It also provides an alert each time the card has been used.
How can I enroll in Docubank?
As mentioned above, individuals wishing in enroll in Docubank must first complete the application process. There are four plans that are offered by the company: Standard, S.N.A.P., a program for children, and a program for college students. The plans are offered through 1 or 4-year subscriptions, and range from $30-$45/ yr., to $90-$145/4 years.
